How to Become a Work From Home Pro…Part 2!

I hope everyone felt a little more confident about working from home after reading my work from home tips a few posts ago ☺ I had so much fun writing about that topic and I realized I missed three REALLY important ones.

Here are my top work from home tips pt. 2!

  • BUY OFFICE SUPPLIES THAT MAKE YOU HAPPY.  You know how some people recommend buying new workout gear to get yourself excited about going to the gym?  This is the same idea!  How much more excited and pumped up for your work day would you be if you had notebooks that made you smile or a new coffee cup to drink out of?  What about fun organizational folders or cute little decorative items to put on your desk (like a clock or patterned mousepad)?  You don’t have to break the bank – even buying a new pen or pencil can help make you feel like a BOSS!  And are you as obsessed as I am with pens that just WRITE WELL?!

My favorite notebooks are from Rifle Paper Co. I also prefer to have a candle lit and live plants on my desk, but there are so many options here!  I’ve linked these items below ☺

  1. MAKE A CHANGE. I know this sounds like it contradicts my advice in the last post about finding ONE place in your home to work, but hear me out!  Sometimes you just NEED a change of scenery to double check that you’re not living as Bill Murray in the COVID version of Groundhog’s Day!  Whenever I got the itch to make a change, I would go set myself up at a coffee shop for the day.  Even just a few hours can help as well.  I know this isn’t exactly ideal during COVID, but there are alternatives.  Maybe working outside in a park for a few hours or setting up a workstation on your porch can give you a refresh!
  2. DON’T BE HARD ON YOURSELF. Working from home takes a lot of discipline and practice, but you can’t beat yourself up if you decide you need to put a load of laundry in or take a little extra time to make a gourmet lunch.  Remote work has its perks and you should take advantage of them (but I would recommend not overdoing it)!
