What are your thoughts on formal dining wear?!
I’ve found that most people are either YAY or NAY on China, with not a whole lot in between. When I was registering for wedding gifts, I heard a lot of advice on what kind of china to mark on our list.
Some said to buy “timeless” pieces (like plain white), and some said to nix china all together. Who has time for setting the table with fancy plates?! If you don’t get the point of china, know that I was right there with you. My first impression of anyone with the necessary items for a formal tablescape would be “wow, she fancy”!
Beware, the search for china is not always easy. I decided that I wanted china that wasn’t too formal for frequent use and a set that was also UNIQUE. I already had white plates for daily use and I wanted something that made a statement!
Once I laid my eyes on Anthropologie’s Old Havana set, I was in heaven! I loved the natural looking pattern and the beautiful mint color. I also purchased formal gold flatware sets from Target and we also bought some traditional silver sets at Crate & Barrel. We also chose fun champagne flutes. I switch up the napkins a lot, but we purchased these plain white ones from Target as well as the pictured Anthropologie dish towel. I do use these as napkins from time to time! All of these items are linked below!
What do you think?! Do you have china, or do you want it some day? If so, did you go bold or traditional? I’ve linked some of my favorite sets below. Let me know some of your favorite! ☺
Use the links above for purchasing, but here are more details and why I love these for a china set:
